A technological first: Robot designed to carry a pregnancy
The goal of this project is to replicate all stages of pregnancy and childbirth within a humanoid robot instead of a natural womb

(Web Desk): A concept for the world’s first pregnant robot has recently been unveiled, sparking widespread interest and ethical debate.
Kaiwu Technology, based in Guangzhou, China, is developing a humanoid robot equipped with an artificial womb in its abdomen.
The goal of this project is to replicate all stages of pregnancy and childbirth within a humanoid robot instead of a natural womb.
The robot will nurture a fetus in an artificial amniotic fluid, supplying it with nutrition and oxygen through a tube — mimicking the natural processes that occur inside a human womb.
A prototype of this pregnant robot is scheduled to be introduced by 2026, with an estimated price of 100,000 yuan (around $14,000 USD).
The project has gained attention in China, particularly in light of the country's growing infertility crisis. However, it has also become the center of intense discussion around various ethical, legal, and social concerns.
