Motive for blast is under investigation

Karachi: At least two people were killed and over 30 others suffered multiple injuries after a cracker blast cum fire in a warehouse on M A Jinnah in Karachi on Thursday.
At least 17 patients were shifted to Jinnah Hospital, while eight others were admitted to Civil Hospital. Firefighters were busy extinguishing flames.
An explosion occurred in the afternoon at a fireworks warehouse near Taj Complex on Karachi’s main thoroughfare, M.A. Jinnah Road. The blast was so powerful that its sound was heard far away, shattering the windows of nearby buildings.
A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 stated that as soon as the Central Command and Control of Rescue 1122 received the report, a fire and rescue team—accompanied by one ambulance and two fire trucks—rushed to the scene and began efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Police officials confirmed that 24 people were injured in the explosion, most of them wounded by flying glass shards.
According to Dr. Sabir Memon, Executive Director of the Trauma Center at Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, eight people injured in the fire were brought to the trauma center, all of whom are in critical condition.
