Tariff will make many Indian products more expensive

Washington: The US has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian products from today.
After the 25 percent additional tariff announced by the US, the total tariff on India has increased to 50 percent. The US Department of Homeland Security has issued a notification in this regard.
According to reports, the tariff will make many Indian products more expensive, which is likely to increase tensions in trade relations between the two countries.
It is pertinent to note that the additional tariff by the US has been imposed in response to India's support for Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war.
On August 6, US President Donald Trump announced an additional 25 percent tariff on India on the issue of purchasing oil from Russia.
President Trump had said that India is not a good trading partner. India continues to purchase oil from Russia, and thus, it is providing fuel to the war machine in Ukraine.
On the other hand, Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar has said that India will also buy oil from wherever it can find cheap oil.
