Trump criticizes India for buying most of its oil and defense equipment from Russia, rather than the US

(Web Desk): Former US President Donald Trump has issued a warning that trade relations between the United States and India are on the verge of collapse.
In a strongly worded post on his Truth Social account, Trump criticized India’s trade practices, taking direct aim at the country for what he described as decades of unfair treatment towards the US.
Trump lamented that India has maintained a one-sided and unjust approach for decades, imposing the highest tariffs in the world on American products, which has prevented US companies from gaining a foothold in the Indian market.
He pointed out that India continues to sell its products in large quantities in the American market, while the US exports very little to India in return.
“We do very little business with India, but they do a lot of business with us. They sell us a huge number of goods, while we sell them very little. This has been a one-sided disaster for decades,” Trump stated.
He further criticized India for buying most of its oil and defense equipment from Russia, rather than the US.
Trump claimed that India has now agreed to reduce or eliminate tariffs on American goods, but said the decision came too late:
“They should have done this years ago,” he added.
It’s worth noting that US-India trade relations have remained strained for years. India has long imposed average import duties ranging from 60% to 100% on US products, a practice that the Trump administration consistently labeled as unfair.
On the other hand, India has defended these tariffs, arguing that they are meant to protect its domestic industries, and that the US should reconsider the quality and pricing of its own products.
