Death toll from earthquake has reached 1,124


Kunar: The death toll from a magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Afghanistan has exceeded 1,000.
According to the Afghan Red Crescent, the death toll from the earthquake that struck between Sunday and Monday night has reached 1,124, while 3,251 people have been injured and more than 8,000 houses have been destroyed.
According to Afghan official media, the most damage from the earthquake was in Kunar province.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was near the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province and its depth was recorded at 8 kilometers.
According to reports, the earthquake struck at 11:47pm local time and about 20 minutes later, another tremor of magnitude 4.5 was felt in the same province, which was 10 kilometers deep.
