Hundreds of people in the region have contracted waterborne diseases due to a severe shortage of clean drinking water

(Web Desk): Hundreds of people have been affected in Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan after consuming contaminated water, and 750 individuals have been hospitalized.
Astore District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Nawab Ahmed Khan said that at least 750 people have been admitted to hospitals in the Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan due to cholera and gastroenteritis.
Dr. Nawab Ahmed Khan stated that these 750 cases were reported over a span of four days, but 90% of them have been brought under control.
He further added, “From morning to night, I administered 60 drips to a single patient, and even after the patient was discharged, several more drips were administered.”
It is worth noting that during the monsoon season, Gilgit-Baltistan has been severely affected by floods. Hundreds of people in the region have contracted waterborne diseases due to a severe shortage of clean drinking water.
