(Web Desk): Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shehrbano Naqvi has made history as the first female police officer from Pakistan to be selected for the prestigious Asia Society 21 Next Generation Fellowship.

She has been named in the Class of 2025 in recognition of her dedication to protecting vulnerable communities and her commitment to driving systemic change within law enforcement.

A spokesperson for Punjab Police confirmed her selection, noting that ASP Naqvi will be among 30 outstanding individuals representing 27 countries at the fellowship, which will be held from December 5 to 7, 2025, in the Philippines.

Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated ASP Naqvi, calling her achievement a proud moment for the nation. “The recognition of Punjab Police officers on international platforms is a matter of great pride,” he said in a statement.

ASP Naqvi gained national acclaim in 2023 after bravely rescuing a woman from a violent mob in Lahore’s Ichhra Market—an act that highlighted her courage and earned her widespread praise.

Her recognition is part of a growing trend of international accolades for Pakistani women in law enforcement. In March 2025, Anum Khan Muhammad Sher of Sargodha won the Excellence in Criminal Investigation Award at the World Police Summit in Dubai for solving two major murder cases. Similarly, in October 2024, Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer SP Beenish Fatima was honoured with the IACP 40 Under 40 Award in Boston for her leadership and service.

These achievements mark a significant milestone for women in Pakistan’s police force.
