Relief has been granted under July 2025 monthly adjustment

Islamabad: The federal government has reduced electricity prices by Rs1.79 per unit nationwide, including Karachi, under the monthly adjustment mechanism.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification announcing the reduction.
According to the notification, the relief has been granted under the July 2025 monthly adjustment, applicable to both K-Electric and government distribution companies (DISCOs). Consumers will see the reduction reflected in their September bills.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had earlier recommended a cut of Rs1.69 per unit under the July adjustment. This reduction is expected to provide consumers with relief amounting to approximately Rs24.5 billion.
It may be noted that the Power Division had submitted ECC policy guidelines to NEPRA regarding the uniform tariff. Under these guidelines, monthly adjustments were also to be extended to K-Electric.
Both the ECC and the federal cabinet had approved the implementation of uniform fuel charges adjustment across the country. The Economic Coordination Committee, in its meeting on 19 August, approved the Power Division’s summary, making monthly electricity adjustments uniform nationwide.
