PDMA Punjab issues fresh flood alert after India releases more water into Sutlej River
At present, high-level flooding is being recorded downstream at Harike and Ferozepur

Lahore: The Indian High Commission in Pakistan has notified the release of floodwater into the River Sutlej, following which the Ministry of Water Resources has issued a flood alert.
According to the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the release of water by India will further increase the flow of the Sutlej. At present, high-level flooding is being recorded downstream at Harike and Ferozepur.
The PDMA Punjab, while issuing a high-flood alert, has directed that the safety of citizens’ lives and property must be ensured.
It is noteworthy that India had also released water into the River Sutlej yesterday.
Meanwhile, PDMA Punjab reported that the water flow at Ganda Singh Wala stands at 230,000 cusecs, while at Sulemanki on the Sutlej, high-level flooding persists with a flow of 137,000 cusecs.
On the River Chenab, the flow at Marala has reached 62,000 cusecs, at Khanki Headworks 98,000 cusecs, at Qadirabad 98,000 cusecs, and at Head Trimmu 250,000 cusecs.
According to PDMA Punjab, extremely high-level flooding is being witnessed at Panjnad, where the water discharge has surged to 475,000 cusecs.
