Lahore: The Sessions Court sentenced a man to 100 years in prison and a fine of Rs4 million for killing his mother, two sisters, and brother in Kahna area of Lahore after being influenced by the PUBG game.
According to the details, the Sessions Court Lahore heard the case of Ali Zain, who killed his mother, two sisters, and brother after being influenced by the PUBG game.
Additional Sessions Judge Riaz Ahmed, while pronouncing the verdict in the case of the murder of four people, sentenced Ali Zain to a total of 100 years in prison and a fine of Rs4 million.
According to the prosecution, Ali Zain, who was influenced by the PUBG game, shot and killed his mother, two sisters, and brother at 2:00am. The Kahna police station registered a case in 2022. Prosecutor Habib-ur-Rehman presented witnesses in the court.
According to a news report published on January 28, 2022, Zain Ali, the 14-year-old son of Naheed Mubarak—a 45-year-old lady health worker from Lahore—used to play the popular online game ‘PUBG’ and allegedly got addicted to the game and killed his mother and three siblings.
Naheed Mubarak, 45, her 20-year-old son Taimur Sultan, and daughters Mahnoor Fatima (15), and Jannat (10), were found dead in a room of their multi-storey house in LDA Chowk, Kahna.
A senior police officer had said that Zain Ali had confessed to his crime. The culprit was fond of playing ‘PUBG’ and spent most of his time playing the online game in his room.
He had said that the teenager’s temper became angry after failing to achieve the goals given in the online game.
According to the police officer, on the day of the incident, the boy lost consciousness after missing a target while playing ‘PUBG’ for hours, and picked up his mother’s pistol and went into the room where she was sleeping with her other children.
He had said that Zain Ali had first shot and killed his mother and then opened fire on his two sisters. Hearing the gunshots, Zain’s elder brother entered the room, and the culprit also opened fire on him, killing them all on the spot. After that, he went to his room on the upper floor, where he rested for some time and then left the house.
Zain threw the pistol into a nearby drain and returned to his room to pretend that he was sleeping when the incident occurred.
The police officer had said that investigators had suspected the boy due to his suspicious body language since the incident, but they decided to consider it for a few days.
The police officer further said that during this time, the police conducted an inquiry to find out all possible aspects, but nothing more was found. On Thursday, the police finally took Zain Ali into custody on suspicion of murdering his family.
The police officer, in response to a question, said that during the inspection of the crime scene, blood traces helped investigators lead to the suspect’s room in the upper portion of the house. He added that they also found blood stains on the accused’s clothes.
