New discovery will help in reducing gap between energy supply and demand

Karachi: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the Khairpur area of Sindh.
According to OGDCL, the discovery was made from the Khairpur Batrasam East One exploratory well. The well will produce 22.5 mmscfd of gas and 690 barrels of crude oil per day.
The OGDCL spokesperson further said that the drilling of the well started on June 30, 2025, and the depth of the well was 3,800 meters.
The spokesperson also said that two drill stem tests were also completed, and the new discovery will help in reducing the gap between energy supply and demand.
