Internet shutdown in Afghanistan, flights canceled, banks and post offices closed
UN demanded Taliban authorities to immediately restore internet and communication services

Kabul: Life in Afghanistan has been paralyzed after the Taliban government shut down internet and telecommunications services across the country.
The internet shutdown has completely cut off the country from the world, with all flights at Kabul International Airport canceled.
In addition, online transactions, money transfers, and cash withdrawals from banks have completely stopped, while the post office has also stopped operations.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has demanded that the Taliban authorities immediately restore internet and communication services, saying that this shutdown will push the Afghan people into further economic hardship and humanitarian crisis.
The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said that the internet blackout has disrupted online businesses, banking systems, money transfers, and daily services. The internet shutdown is a serious violation of human rights.
It is pertinent to note that the Afghan government decided to cut the fiber optic network on Monday evening, as a result of which both mobile phone and internet services were affected.
