Cabinet has approved the elimination of registration fees for death certificates at the municipal, union council, and town committee levels

Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet has approved the waiver of the death certificate registration fee.
According to a spokesperson, the cabinet has approved the elimination of registration fees for death certificates at the municipal, union council, and town committee levels.
The spokesperson said this decision is a continuation of the policy approved in September 2024, which offered free registration of births.
Sindh Chief Minister stated that under the new arrangement, the Sindh government will bear the cost of NADRA’s service charges, allowing citizens to obtain death certificates free of charge.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the decision was made with the support of the Law and Finance Departments.
Additionally, the Sindh Cabinet approved a policy for the surrender of weapons by dacoits in Kacha (riverine) areas, aimed at promoting development in those regions. The decision was presented to the cabinet after approval by the Chief Secretary.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister said that under the Sindh Local Government Act 2013, the government aims to promote digital registration of key life events.
The decision has been taken to further strengthen the province’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system.
