ISSI hosts seminar on Pakistan-China relations, highlights regional stability and economic growth

Islamabad: The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) recently hosted an international seminar on "Pakistan-China Relations: Regional Stability and Economic Prosperity" in collaboration with the Pakistan Study Centre at Fudan University. The seminar brought together prominent diplomats, scholars, and practitioners from Pakistan and China to discuss the significance of bilateral ties and their regional implications.
In his welcome remarks, Director General ISSI Ambassador Sohail Mahmood emphasized that Pakistan-China relations are the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. He highlighted the importance of the China-Pakistan Action Plan (2025-2029) in advancing cooperation in technology, digital economy, green development, and industrial upgrading.
The Chief Guest, Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Foreign Secretary (Asia Pacific), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the resilience and strategic significance of the Pakistan-China partnership. He noted that the synergy between the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan's Economic Transformation Plan-URAAN would unlock new opportunities for sustainable growth.
The seminar featured two working sessions: "Security Cooperation for Regional Stability" and "Economic Cooperation for Regional Prosperity". Experts from both countries presented papers and engaged in discussions on various aspects of Pakistan-China cooperation, including security, trade, and regional connectivity.
In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman BoG ISSI, reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support for partnership with China in advancing regional stability and economic cooperation. The seminar provided a valuable platform for an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties and their regional implications, highlighting the importance of Pakistan-China relations in promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
