Islamabad: The federal government has announced not to increase gas prices for next six months.
The announcement was made by Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik while chairing a meeting in Islamabad today.
He said relief in gas prices is being provided to people on the special instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said gas prices will remain unchanged for all consumers due to reforms.
He said increase in circular debt in the gas sector has stopped, no new debt is being created while an agreement has also been finalized to transfer excess LNG cargo from Qatar to the global market.
He said gas supply to domestic consumers across the country is continuing and no local gas field is closed.
The meeting was informed that gas supply hours have been extended from 5 am to 10 pm.
It was briefed that UFG losses in Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited have reduced from 9 percent to 5 percent and from 17 to 10 percent in Sui Southern Gas Company.
