Islamabad: A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to assess the implementation of fuel-saving and austerity measures in light of the current regional situation. The meeting was briefed on the progress made in enforcing these cost-saving initiatives.

During the briefing, it was informed that the Prime Minister’s directives are being implemented effectively, while the Intelligence Bureau will monitor all measures and submit reports on their execution. The meeting was also told that the country currently has sufficient reserves of petroleum products to meet its needs.

The Prime Minister directed the Minister for Petroleum to play an active role in further improving the supply chain of petroleum imports, and instructed all relevant institutions to remain prepared for emergency measures until the situation improves.

The briefing further highlighted that continuous monitoring and record-keeping of petroleum products is being carried out to immediately detect any irregularities. Positive results are emerging from voluntary salary waivers by cabinet members and reductions in fuel usage in government departments, which will help provide relief to the public.

The meeting was also informed that adequate stocks of medicines are available to meet national needs. Additionally, for work-from-home arrangements, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has completed special connectivity arrangements to facilitate the government’s e-office system.
