Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday said that the "nexus" between National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Prime Minister Imran Khan failed to prove corruption of even a single penny against him and former Premier Nawaz Sharif.
While addressing a press conference today, the PML-N president said that the British government itself stated that there was no corruption.
Reacting to the UK court’s verdict about unfreezing his and his family's bank accounts, Shehbaz said that present ministers has levelled allegations of corruption worth billions of rupees but failed to prove any of it.
“During last three months, I went to jail twice,” he said adding that the government filed case against him and his children to prove corruption and approached UK's National Crime Agency (NCA).
He further added, “The NCA raised allegation that were leveled by East Recovery Unit stating money laundering from Pakistan to Dubai”.
“NCA is a renowned crime agency of the world,” added PML-N leader.
He further said that the NCA conducted a 17-month long probe in which it examined his financial transactions over the past 20 years.
Following the thorough investigation, no evidence of money laundering found, said PML-N president.
“The NCA submitted the investigation report of the bank accounts at the Westminster court—revealing that Shahbaz and his family were not involved in money laundering practices,” he stated.
The NCA had requested UK court for an extension when it first began probing the case, stating that it needed more time to complete the probe against in multiple countries.
“Can British court let me go unpunished if I had done corruption?” he asked.
Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif lodged a defamation case against the Daily Mail—asking it to provide evidence against him.
The Daily Mail, however, is yet to submit evidence in the case.
