Tharparkar NA-221: Three arrested as polling station set ablaze amid by-polls
Tharparkar: Police have arrested three men on Sunday after the polling station set on fire amid the by-election for a National Assembly (NA) seat in Tharparkar's NA-221.
The miscreants set ablaze the polling station on account of which the ballot papers, containers and boxes have been diminished to ashes.
Following the incident, the law-enforcing personnel arrested three persons including Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) leader, Amanullah Samon.
As per police, a fight broke out between the PTI and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) groups.
An extra contingent of security forces and rangers has been deployed and the fire has been extinguished.
Through the polling, completely different incidents of violence and chaos have been reported.
Polling on NA-221 Tharparkar that started at 8:00 am was expected to continue till 5:00 pm without any interval.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established 318 polling stations for the by-poll and declared 13 of them as sensitive and 95 as highly sensitive.
