EVM issue: Fawad Ch apologizes over criticizing ECP


Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday has apologized over his statement regarding Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to details, ECP has conducted hearing over show-cause notice served to the federal minister over the matter of using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in next elections.
During the proceedings, the federal minister informed the commission that he himself a lawyer and he don’t abuse anyone.
Fawad Chaudhry requested the commission to accept his apology and wrap up this issue. The Election Commission has directed the minister to submit written apology.
Talking to the media after his appearance in the Election Commission, he said that as a federal minister, whatever I say is the policy of the government and the cabinet, it is not my personal opinion.
Fawad Chaudhry said that I told the Election Commission that whatever I say as Information Minister, I represent the Federal Cabinet. I hope the Election Commission will take my explanation in a positive way.
It is pertinent to remember that Fawad Chaudhry had criticized the election commission over raising questions on electronic voting machines that government plans to use in the next general elections.
