PTI government proposed to disconnect mobile phones, electricity and gas connections of non-filers


Islamabad: Senate Standing Committee on Finance has rejected the proposals to disconnect essential services of non-filers.
According to details, the government proposed to disconnect mobile phones, electricity and gas connections of non-filers of income tax returns in its desperate attempts to broaden a narrow tax base.
However, the Senate Standing Committee on Finance has rejected proposals under the Third Tax Amendment Act to disconnect non-filers' mobile phones, electricity and gas connections and provide taxpayer information to the NAB.
On the other hand, it has been decided to file a privilege motion against the Governor SBP for not attending the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee.
Chairman Committee Talha Mahmood said that IG Islamabad would be asked to arrest the Governor SBP and present it before the committee.
