Karachi: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to to operate 48 flights a week from 33 flights per week.
The deciion was taken in the light of Instructions of PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal (Retd) Arshad Malik, said a press release issued by the airline's spokesman.
The national carrier also got permission to operate more flights to Saudi Arabia.
Malik thanked Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, retired General Bilal Akbar for his efforts that led to grant of addition flights to Saudi Arabia.
The PIA's Country Manager for Saudi Arabia, Jan Muhammad Meher met with the officials of General Authority of the Civil Aviation Saudi Arabia and got the formal approvals.
PIA will operate eight flights each to Damam and Madinah, nine flights to Riyadh and 23 flights to Jeddah from major cities of Pakistan.
The reason for mounting extra flights is to compensate and facilitate travel of passengers including workers that was previously restricted due to covid, the spokesman said.
