'Pakistan made additional progress towards the completion of its FATF Action Plan in the year 2020'
Washington: The United States has acknowledged Pakistan's efforts to meet the demands of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
According to international media, US has recently released its annual report on terrorism. The superpower has acknowledged Pakistan's struggle to meet requirement of FATF in 2020 and said that Pakistan has made significant progress on its first action plan of the global body against money laundering and terror financing by largely addressing 26 of the 27 action items.
The report said that Pakistan made additional progress towards the completion of its FATF Action Plan in the year 2020 but could not meet all the requirements of the Action Plan. Due to which Pakistan remained in the FATF's 'gray list'.
In a separate chapter entitled Supporting Pakistan, the report states that the US government recognizes Pakistan's role in Afghanistan and wider regional security, and urges Pakistan to eliminate terrorist groups within its territory.
The report points out that the United States cooperated with Pakistan in counter-terrorism operations, which helped Pakistan reclaim parts of the country previously held by militant groups.
Despite this, the banned TTP and other designated terrorist groups continue to carry out attacks on Pakistani military and civilians, while Pakistan has taken some action against these designated terrorist organizations.
