Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday has called for fair, equitable and affordable supply of coronavirus vaccine to developing countries.

While virtually addressing the 4th Session of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Financing for Development, PM said that the distribution of vaccine should be in such a way that it is accessible to all developing countries.
While suggesting a five-point frame work to tackle the pandemic that has affected nine billion people worldwide, Imran Khan said that debt re-payments for developing countries should be suspended until the world is free of virus.
“Public-sector debt under an agreed and inclusive multilateral framework should be restructured and concessional financing through multilateral development banks should also be expanded,” he said.
Referring to Pakistan’s measures to combat coronavirus, Imran Khan said that Pakistan focused on two-way policy where the government had to save people from dying from the virus, and at the same time had to prevent them from dying from hunger.
“Our strategy to curb the spread of virus has worked well fortunately but we need to continuously take preventive measures to control the second wave of coronavirus,” he said.
PM also stressed upon the need to take effective measures for the return of stolen assets held by corrupt politicians and criminals.
