Dr Faisal Sultan expresses concern over spike in corona cases
“Vaccines are protecting everyone"
Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Friday said that cases of coronavirus have started increasing again in the country.
While addressing a press conference, Dr Sultan added that Pakistan’s data on vaccination shows that the infection rate of the disease in immunized people is way less than those not vaccinated.
He urged people to keep following precautionary measures. “Let us also not forget that with cases surging all over the country, we must wear masks, especially indoors.”
He said that more than 50 percent of the population—above 12 years of age— has been vaccinated.
“Vaccines are protecting everyone. But it’s especially important for women and the elderly to get inoculated,” he stressed.
Earlier in the day, Dr Faisal Sultan tweeted, “Covid vaccine update: 50% of the 12y+ population is fully vaccinated. Let us not stop here. More to do”.
