Former Punjab Chief Minister further stated that corruption is rampant in ‘New Pakistan’.


Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday stated that the ruling government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has broken all records of corruption in the last 20 years.
On his official twitter handle, the PML-N leader wrote, “During PM Nawaz Sharif's government, corruption decreased despite the massive development, which was the result of transparency, good governance and legal reforms”.
“Now corruption has hit an all-time high despite the fact that no worthwhile development has taken place,” he added.
Former Punjab Chief Minister further stated that corruption is rampant in ‘New Pakistan’.
“Among Asia-pacific region, Pakistan has unfortunately been ranked as the 5th most corrupt country,” stressed Shahbaz Sharif.

Quoting the report of Transparency International, the opposition leader said that Pakistan’s image got tainted internationally.
Pakistan ranked 140 out of 180 countries — dropping 16 spots over last year — in the newly released Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by Transparency International (TI), an annual index that ranks countries based on perceptions of public sector corruption.
As per the anti-graft watchdog, Pakistan's score shows that corruption has increased in country as compared to the last year.
