PM calls meeting taking notice of power outages

The power outages are on the rise in the country, and the duration has reached 14 hours in various cities

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the complaints of load shedding in different parts of the country and has called a meeting today at 12:00pm.

According to the reports, Prime Minister will be given a detailed briefing on the demand and supply of electricity and load shedding. The progress on the ongoing operations against electricity theft will also be reviewed, and the problems faced in the provinces will also be discussed.

Along with the heat, power outages are also on the rise in the country, and the duration has reached 14 hours in various cities.

People protested against electricity load-shedding in Peshawar, in which protesters blocked the M1- motorway, causing long queues of vehicles on the road.

The protestors refused to open the road until the authorities came for negotiations, saying that the duration of load-shedding had increased intolerably.

On the other hand, the people are worried about the long power outages in the small and big cities of the country, load shedding continues even after midnight in some areas of Karachi.

While, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has increased the load shedding period in Quetta from eight to 10 hours. Also, 12 hours load shedding is being done in the district headquarters including Turbat, Sibi, Nasirabad and Jafarabad.

Naqvi announces five major projects for Islamabad

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday announced five major projects for the convenience of the citizens of Islamabad.

Mohsin Naqvi visited the Capital District Authority (CDA) headquarters and took important decisions to provide relief to the citizens.

On this occasion, Interior Minister decided to launch Capital Emergency Services and Capital Waste Management Company in Islamabad. Capital Safe City Authority, Central Business District (CBD) Islamabad and Capital Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will also be established.

Federal Interior Minister assigned the task to Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

Mohsin Naqvi said; “All the measures aim to provide the best and fastest services to the citizens of Islamabad, soon we will make Islamabad an ideal city”.

The Home Minister during his visit to CDA headquarters met the staff of Ambulance 1122 and Fire Brigade and urged them to perform their duties diligently, saying that Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Water Rescue Service should be integrated under Capital Emergency Services.

He stated that citizens will be able to get emergency services by calling 1122 in any emergency. A unified emergency control room will be established, live tracking of vehicles will be done through GPS and special attention will be paid to staff training.

The interior minister also directed to set up new Emergency Services 1122 stations in the city and ordered recruitment on merit for approved vacancies, saying that the number of ambulances in Islamabad would be increased.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Mohammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon and other emergency services officials were also present on the occasion.

Ambani's pre-wedding Round-2 in Italy

This pre-wedding event held in the luxury cruise ship will end on June 1 in Italy

Mumbai: Indian artists started arriving in Italy to attend the pre-wedding Round-2 of Anant Ambani, the younger son of Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant.

According to Indian media reports, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding Round-2 is being held on a cruise ship, which will complete a sea journey from Italy to southern France during the celebrations from May 28 to June 1.

Cricketer MS Dhoni along with his daughter, actors Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt along with their daughter Raha left Mumbai for Italy yesterday to attend the second pre-wedding party organized before the wedding.

Earlier, the bride-to-be Radhika was spotted at the Mumbai airport with her parents Viren and Sheila Merchant, while Anant Ambani's uncle industrialist Anil Ambani was also spotted at the private airport in Mumbai.

The second pre-wedding party officially kicks off tomorrow (May 29) on a cruise ship in Italy, followed by a 'Starry Night' themed party in the evening.

On Thursday, May 30, a ceremony will be organised for all the guests in Rome, the capital of Italy. After which there will be a late-night dinner party on the cruise ship, and on May 31, the cruise ship will arrive in the southern city of Cannes, France, where a black-tie party will be held for all the guests.

Thus, this pre-wedding event held in the luxury cruise ship will end on June 1 in Italy.
