President approves Baligh-ur-Rehman's appointment as new Governor Punjab
Rehman also served as Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training from August 2017 to May 2018.
Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has approved the appointment of Baligh-ur-Rehman as the Governor of Punjab, GNN reported on Monday.
According to details, President Arif Alvi approved new Governor Punjab's appointment on the advice of the Prime Minister. The approval was given under Article 101 (1) of the Constitution.
Hailing from Bahawalpur, Rehman also served as Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, in Abbasi cabinet from August 2017 to May 2018.
Previously he served as the Minister of State Federal Education and of Interior and Narcotics Control in the third Sharif ministry from 2013 to 2017.
In June 2013, he was appointed as Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training.
In November 2013, he was given the additional charge of Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control in the cabinet of Nawaz Sharif and ceased to hold ministerial office in July 2017 when the federal cabinet was disbanded following the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after Panama Papers case decision.
Mr. Rehman had also been a member of the National Assembly (NA) from 2008 to May 2018.
On May 7, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent a summary for the appointment of Baligh-ur-Rehman as the governor of Punjab to President Dr Arif Alvi.
