Hamza Shehbaz takes oath as Punjab CM
Hamza received 179 votes, while Elahi managed to bag 176 votes.
Lahore: Hamza Shehbaz Sharif has taken oath as Punjab Chief Minister on Saturday (today).
According to details, Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman administered the oath to him at a ceremony at the Governor House in Lahore.
Following a dramatic three-vote victory against Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Hamza received 179 votes, while Elahi managed to bag 176 votes.
Deputy Speaker, Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari presided over the session and rejected all ten votes of the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) in the light of the Supreme Court's ruling.
He also read out the letter, written by the PML(Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in which he had advised the PML(Q) members to vote in favour of Hamza Shahbaz.
