Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan Tuesday accused the "coalition government" of the fast dwindling economic situation in the country, saying that they didn't intervene when they had to.

While addressing a seminar via video link, Khan highlighted factors that caused the alarming upsurge in terrorism in the country, a widespread lawlessness in the ex-FATA region and a fast dwindling economic situation in Pakistan.

Being the keynote speaker in the seminar, Imran Khan addressed Pak-Afghan affairs and stated: “When the Taliban came into power, they asked the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to return to Pakistan”—terming it ‘the time when an utmost peaceful settlement was needed’.

“However, the mishandling of pro-Pakistan government in Afghanistan is reason behind the resurgence in terrorism,” he stressed.

The former Prime Minister stated that the rise in terrorism in the country will strike Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) the hardest.

He added that his government decided not to interfere in Afghanistan’s national matters, stating that PTI government analyzed the strategy to protect Pakistan from the negative implications of the fast-changing situation in Afghanistan threadbare.

“The performance of the coalition government not only wrecked the booming economy but also destroyed the hard-won peace in the country in a short span of few months rule,” he alleged.

Imran Khan, during the seminar, stated that the “imported government’s” failed foreign and Afghan policies.

During the seminar, the speakers highlighted major causes of terrorism, besides shedding light on reasons of the success of PTI government in ensuring peace and stability in the country during its tenure.

The seminar was attended by allied religious and political parties’ leadership, elders from terrorism-affected areas and people from various walks of life.

Senior PTI leader Murad Saeed was tasked to make all necessary arrangements for the national seminar.
