Bird strikes affect over 61 aircraft this year: report

Karachi: Between January 2023 and June 2023, bird strikes were reported to have damaged up to 61 aircraft in Pakistan operated by both international and domestic airlines.

According to statistics shared by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesperson, the national flag carrier suffered a loss of millions of rupees due to bird strikes—with 39 bird hits reported in the last six months at domestic airports across Pakistan.

The data of the report told that Karachi Airport witnessed the most bird strikes during this time, with 19 incidences being reported.

Airports in Lahore and Islamabad each observed 17 strikes, Quetta got four occurrences, Multan and Sukkur witnessed two and Sialkot experienced one strike.
