Pakistan cricket team arrives in Sri Lanka for Test series
Shaheens are all set to travel to Hambantota tomorrow where they will engage in a two-day warm-up match on July 11 and 12.
Colombo: The Pakistan cricket team concluded their training camp on Friday and arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Sunday for a two-match Test series against the host nation.
After a day of rest, the team, known as the Shaheens, is set to travel to Hambantota tomorrow, where they will engage in a two-day warm-up match on July 11 and 12.
The opening Test of the series will take place on July 16 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Subsequently, both teams will return to Colombo for the second Test at the Singhalese Sports Club from July 24 to 28.
During their previous tour of Sri Lanka in July 2022, Pakistan and the hosts played a two-match Test series, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In the first Test, Pakistan achieved a remarkable victory by chasing down a target of 342, winning by four wickets. However, Sri Lanka responded strongly in the second Test, winning by a margin of 246 runs to level the series.
Here is the itinerary for Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka:
July 9: Pakistan arrives in Colombo.
July 11-12: Warm-up match.
July 16-20: First Test at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
July 24-28: Second Test at Singhalese Sports Club, Colombo.
The Pakistan squad for the tour includes players such as Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain and wicketkeeper), and other talented individuals. The team is accompanied by a dedicated group of player support personnel, including coaches, trainers, and medical staff.
