Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated the idea of outlawing a political party was not being considered.
Speaking to the media, Tarar said that the electoral reforms had reached a 99% completion rate.
"A few instances during the parliamentary committee meeting, concerns about the PTI were expressed. However, these problems are not too delicate and may be rectified. We will deal with the PTI's problems, Tarar said.
Under the direction of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a meeting of the parliamentary committee was convened earlier today.
Further Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms Chairman Ayaz Sadiq addressed the media and stated that the committee's purpose was to implement electoral reforms rather than to outlaw a particular political party. In the next week, the committee would complete its suggestions for enhancements, he continued.
“We are trying to correct controversial decisions regarding election reforms taken in Nisar’s tenure,” Ayaz said.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will set the election date in accordance with the announcement made earlier by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the government's term will expire on August 14.
