Islamabad:  The National Accountability Court (NAB) on Friday commenced implementation of directives issued by the Supreme Court regarding the reinstatement of NAB cases.

A total of 80 cases were presented to the Registrar Office by NAB, with 26 of these cases subsequently referred to the accountability courts.

In response to these developments, the Islamabad Accountability Court issued summonses to Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and Rubina Khalid, a prominent leader of the People's Party.

Accountability Court No. 1 received records for five references, while Court No. 2 and Court No. 3 received records for eight and thirteen references, respectively. To facilitate these proceedings, staff members from Court No. 2 and Court No. 3 were reassigned to their original positions, as they had been temporarily deployed to other courts due to a shortage of judges.

Following a hearing related to two rental power references, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Basheer summoned Raja Pervaiz.

Additionally, Rubina Khalid and her co-accused are scheduled to appear in court on October 4th in connection with the Lok Wirsa embezzlement case.

Furthermore, the court scheduled arguments for the upcoming hearing to address matters concerning judicial jurisdiction in the case involving embezzlement within the Benazir Income Support Program.
