ICC World Cup 2023 final clash: Australia beat India by six wickets
Australian batters successfully chased the target of 241 runs with 42 balls remaining in the final match at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad: Australia beat India by six wickets in the final match of ICC Men's Cricket World Cup at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The Australian batters successfully chased the target with 42 balls remaining. The Indian bolwers gave tough time to the batters but they failed to contain them. Travis Head collected huge praise as he scored century in the final match and led his side to win the match.
India earlier had set 240 runs target for Australia.
Virat Kohli scored 54 off 63 balls , K. Rahul made 66 runs of 107 balls while Rohit Sharma could contribute 47 runs against 31 balls.
Australia won the toss and opted to field first against India in the final clash of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on Sunday (today).
The both teams are high spirit to take on each other in the final encounter—the cricket fans had been waiting for a long.
The both sides have not made changes in their teams.
Australian skipper Cummins said, “Looks like a bit of a dry wicket and wanted to bowl first. Dew is one factor and it's quite dewy in the night at this venue. Been really proud of the group. Tough start to the tournament but they haven't put a foot wrong since. Same team as the semi-final,”.
On other hand, Rohit was of the view, “I would've batted first. Big game and runs on the board. It's going to be amazing,”.
He said, “ The biggest occasion, in terms of cricketing events. We got to stay nice and calm. It's a great feeling and I said it at the PC (Press Conference) yesterday as well - it's a dream come true to captain the team in the final. We're playing the same team,”.
