142 arrested during power theft operation in South Punjab

Multan: During the ongoing operation of Multan Electric Supply Company (MAPCO) against electricity thieves and defaulters in South Punjab, 142 more consumers were caught stealing electricity in a day.

According to MAPCO spokesperson, cases were registered against 88 electricity thieves while six people were caught stealing electricity on the spot.

MAPCO imposed fines worth Rs7.730 million on the electricity thieves, of which Rs1.890 million was collected on the spot.

According to MAPCO, 10 tube well connections were disconnected and transformers were taken down in the areas of Ahmadyar and Qubola sub-divisions for non-payment of dues of more than Rs5 million.

It is pertinent to note that during the recovery campaign against defaulters in South Punjab, Rs70.18 million were collected from the defaulters in one day.
