Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Monday announced an increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic cylinders, raising concerns for consumers.

According to the OGRA notification, the cost of LPG per kilogram surged by Rs 1.57, resulting in a significant impact on the overall pricing structure.

Effective immediately, the price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has been hiked by Rs 18.52, reaching a new total of Rs 3,257.87.

The adjustment came as a swift and tangible escalation in the expenses borne by households relying on LPG for their cooking and heating needs.

The revised per kilogram price for LPG now stands at Rs 256.42, marking a notable increase. The immediate enforcement of this adjustment is expected to impact consumers, requiring them to adapt to the updated pricing structure.

It is worth noting that just in December, the cost of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder was Rs 3,007.52, illustrating a notable uptick in prices within a short span.

The move by OGRA raises concerns among consumers who are already grappling with economic challenges, further highlighting the importance of monitoring and addressing the economic implications of such price adjustments.
