Domestic dispute: CJP rejects mother-in-law's appeal against daughter-in-law

Islamabad: The matter of dispute between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law reached the Supreme Court, where the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa rejected the appeal of mother-in-law.

According to the detail, Sabiha Khanum filed an appeal in Supreme Court against the order of High Court to give 10 tola of gold to her ex-daughter-in-law Sadia, which was heard by a three-member bench headed by CJP Qazi Faez Isa.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice asked why there are women on both sides in this case, how the mother-in-law is related to this case. On this, lawyer Zulfiqar Naqvi told the court that this dispute is between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law about 10 tolas of gold.

The Chief Justice asked if the daughter-in-law was divorced, how much was the Mehr. On this, Zulfiqar Naqvi, the mother-in-law's lawyer, said that she has been divorced and has three children, and the Mehr was Rs2,000.

On this, Justice Qazi Faez said that what is the problem in giving 10 tolas of gold to a mother of three children.

Later, the court dismissed the appeal of mother-in-law Sabiha Khanum regarding not giving 10 tolas of gold.
