Youm-e-Takbeer: ISPR pays tribute to efforts of Armed Forces, scientists
Rawalpindi: The DG ISPR (Director General Inter-Services Public Relations) Major General Babar Iftikhar on Friday took to Twitter to pay tribute to the efforts of the Armed Forces and scientists who contributed to the success of the nuclear programme.
DG ISPR on Friday said 23 years ago on this day (May 28, 1998), Pakistan restored the balance of power in the region by successfully establishing credible minimum nuclear deterrence.
In a tweet, he said, ” the Armed Forces and the nation pays tribute to all those involved in making this dream come true.”
The tweet was followed by the #YoumeTakbeer trend.
Pakistan is marking the 23rd anniversary of successfully conducting nuclear tests today.
On this day in 1998, Pakistan carried out five successful nuclear tests in Chaghi, Balochistan followed by another one on May 30th in Kharan. The tests were conducted in response to Indian nuclear tests.
Every year, Youm-e-Takbeer is celebrated to commemorate the historic day when Pakistan became a nuclear country, in self-defence, in response to the hostile posturing by its neighbour India.
Following the successful tests, Pakistan became the seventh nation in the world to possess nuclear weapons and the first Islamic country to do so
This day holds great significance in the history of Pakistan, as it was the day Pakistan and its military and civilian leadership succeeded in achieving nuclear deterrence to ward off its regional enemies and create a balance of power to curb India’s aggressive designs and maintain peace in South Asia.
