LHC suspends notification of fixing medicines’ prices

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday suspended the notification of fixing the prices of medicines.

According to the details, Justice Shahid Kareem heard the petition of citizen Aslam in which the federal government and others were made a party.

In the petition, the position was taken that the caretaker government issued a notification against the law to set the prices of medicine, after which the prices of medicine prices will increase.

The government is withdrawing the section for fixing the prices of medicine from the drug act. The caretaker government does not have this power; however, the upcoming public and democratic government can take this step. The current notification is against the constitution and law.

It has been requested to suspend the notification till the final decision of the petition.

Later, the court suspended the notification of the increase in the prices of medicines while asking the parties, including the caretaker Punjab government, to respond at the next hearing.
