Judiciary struggling to get rid of establishment interference: CJ LHC
Malik Shahzad further said that complaints of interference by institutions in the judiciary keep coming up
Rawalpindi: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Malik Shahzad Ahmad Friday said that the judiciary is struggling to get rid of the interference of the establishment and is sure that it will end soon.
Speaking at the ceremony in Rawalpindi, Chief Justice LHC stated that the petitioners deal with this judicial system. This system is made for the weak members of the society.
He added that delay in decisions of cases is the biggest problem. Three generations wait for decisions, it takes 30 years. The cases are delayed because witnesses cannot appear. Even people living abroad had difficulties in court appearances.
Malik Shahzad further said that complaints of interference by institutions in the judiciary keep coming up. Two or three days ago, a judge's complaint has come out in which he described all the incidents of interference. The good thing is that after explaining everything, the judge said that he is not afraid, but just wanted to bring to the knowledge of the Chief Justice. The judiciary has to face this interference with eye to eye and not hesitate to make any sacrifice.
“Our judiciary is performing its duties without any fear and greed. I am happy that the district judiciary is working without any fear and greed, I am proud of the subordinate judiciary. If we provide justice out of fear, then Allah will help us,” he added.
Justice Malik Shahzad further stated that before the Judiciary Movement, people used to say that once a judge goes home, he does not come back, but the Judiciary Movement restored Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and showed that the impossible was possible. The struggle of the judiciary movement blocked the way to martial law.
The Chief Justice continued that at present the judiciary is facing the problem of establishment interference. Various institutions are involved in the interference and it started with Maulvi Tamizuddin case. The judiciary is struggling to get rid of the establishment interference and have to fight against it with the faith that it will end soon and there is absolute belief that the interference in the judiciary will end soon.
