Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered Inspector General of Police (IG) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan to submit a final report on the alleged abduction of Faizan Usman by September 10.

Faizan Usman was reportedly taken on July 5 by men in black uniforms and civilian clothes, without any warrant.

His father filed a petition in the IHC for his recovery, naming the state, the defense ministry, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Islamabad IG, and the Shehzad Town Police Station’s Station House Officer (SHO) as respondents.

The court has now added the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as a respondent and directed the IG to seek assistance from them if needed.

The court had earlier asked the police to produce Usman in court, but when that did not happen, the judge demanded a detailed report from the police chief.

During the hearing, Justice Babar Sattar questioned whether the police had inquired with intelligence agencies regarding the abduction.

The IG responded that the defense ministry had been contacted, but Justice Sattar clarified that intelligence agencies report directly to the Prime Minister, not the defense ministry.

The judge expressed concern over the increasing incidents of abductions, emphasizing that it’s the police's duty to protect citizens.

He warned that if the police fail, people will turn to the courts for justice. The hearing was adjourned till September 10, with instructions for the IG to submit the final report by then.
