After K-Electric, NEPRA fines GEPCO also of Rs10mn

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has fined another power distribution company after K Electric.

In a statement released by NEPRA, Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has been fined Rs10 million for not implementing current protection measures.

The statement said that GEPCO failed to satisfy NEPRA in its response to the issued show-cause notice. The supply company has been ordered to deposit the penalty amount in NEPRA's account within 15 days.

According to the NEPRA order, GEPCO failed to earth 100 percent of the poles in its jurisdiction. It has been directed to earth the remaining steel structure in three months.

The Power Regulatory Authority has ordered GEPCO to earth the PCC poles in one year and that it may be fined further for failure to implement the order.
