Maryam Nawaz seeks proposals to form 'Punjab Tourism Authority'
Foreign tourists and religious tourism will be promoted in Punjab
Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz asked for suggestions about the establishment, design and comprehensive plan of ‘Punjab Tourism Authority’.
Chief Minister Punjab also directed to formulate policy measures for the promotion of tourism in the province. She formed a 25-member special committee for the promotion of tourism in the province.
The senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Pervaiz Rasheed will be a special member of the Stripling Committee, senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb will be the convener of the committee, provincial ministers of information, minorities, transport and communication have also been included in the committee.
Apart from Member National Assembly (MNA) Afzal Khokhar, Senior Anchorperson Iftikhar Ahmed, secretaries of various ministries will also be members of the special committee which will prepare proposals and submit them to the Chief Minister Punjab within 15 days. The committee will prepare a comprehensive plan for the promotion of tourism in Punjab.
According to the plan, 8-10 tourist spots in Punjab will be developed and model tourist spots will be made. 8-10 tourist places with the importance of religious, cultural, business and historical heritage will be selected. Foreign tourists and religious tourism will be promoted in Punjab.
The entire existing tourism system in Punjab will be restructured and upgraded, complete overhauling of archaeology, museums, and transport sectors, development of advanced technology app and tourism portal will be initiated.
