GHQ attack: Date set to indict Imran Khan, others

Rawalpindi: A date has been set for indictment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and others in the May 9 GHQ attack case.

Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Special Court heard the cases related to the May 9 tragedy. Shireen Mazari, Sadaqat Abbasi, Amjad Niazi and Usman Dar appeared in the court, while arrest warrants were issued for 31 accused who were absent.

During the hearing, while deciding to try the GHQ attack case first, copies of the challan were distributed to the accused named in the case, while they were sent to Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi by the lawyer.

On the other hand, the nominated PTI workers and leaders did not appear in the cases of September 28 and October 4 protests and filed the applications for absence due to illness.

Later, the Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi remarked that the next hearing of the case will be held on October 19 in the Adiala Jail Court and the accused will be charged in the GHQ attack case.
