NAB recovers Rs36.8mn in case against Elahi, hands over to govt

Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) made a huge recovery in the case against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others accused in the corruption scandal and handed over the money to the Punjab government.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of NAB Lahore, it was said that the recovery was made in the case of kickbacks in contracts against former Chief Minister Pervez Elahi and others.

Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir handed over a cheque of Rs36.8 million to the Punjab government and Rs17.2 million was received from former Chief Financial Officer Ikram Naveed in plea bargain.

Sohail Nasir said in this regard that recovery of national wealth is the priority of NAB. The Accountability Facilitation Cell has been established for parliamentary representatives and the business community. The scope of AFC has been extended to bureaucracy after the National Assembly and Provincial Parliament.

He added that NAB Lahore has pledged billions of rupees to the people and the national treasury this year. NAB Lahore is organizing monthly open courts regularly as part of people-friendly initiatives. People's confidence in NAB is increasing with the recent actions of Chairman NAB.
