Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday slightly reduced the price of electricity for the month of October.

As per details, the authority approved a reduction of 6 paisa per unit price of electricity cost in the context of monthly fuel charges adjustment for October 2021, stated a notification.
Earlier on June 30, NEPRA approved Rs. 0.28 reduction in the prices of electricity.
The electric regulatory officials were asked the National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC) to explain why it generated electricity from diesel and furnace oil in May last year, to which NEPRA officials replied that in May last month, there was a shortage of 140 MMCFD gas per day and this difficult decision was taken due to low availability of LNG.
The Chairman NEPRA further said that the cost of production increased due to poor operation of the system.
Later, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved Rs. 0.28 reduction in the price of electricity giving citizens a relief of Rs. 3.60 billion in July’s bills.
