The country welcomes 2022 with fireworks
Lahore: Celebrations across the country light up as Pakistan welcomed New Year with fireworks as the clock ticked to midnight. The world has been welcoming the year 2022 under the cloud of COVID-19 variant Omicron and escalating inflation.
Hundreds of youngsters and families gathered on major arteries of the provincial metropolis to celebrate New Year’s night. Fireworks have illuminated the sky in all the metro cities including Islamabad.
On the other hand, 19 people, including a 9-year-old girl, have been injured due to the aerial firing in Karachi.
According to details, 19 persons sustained injuries when some citizens resorted to aerial firing to welcome the new year of 2022 in Korangi, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Azizabad, Old Golimar, Darakhshan and other parts of the metropolis.
The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Civil Hospital and Jinnah Hospital for treatment. Rescue sources said that women and children were also among the injured.
