Islamabad: The second phase of the national coronavirus vaccination of people aged 60 years and older has began on Wednesday (today). The senior citizens who has registered themselves will be inoculated.

The government launched the Covid vaccine drive in February, vaccinating the healthcare workers in the first phase after receiving 500,000 Sinopharm doses from China.
Earlier in March, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) approved the use of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine Sinopharm for people over 60 years of age.
Moreover, four vaccines, Cansino Bio (China), Sputnik-V (Russia), Sinophram (China) and Oxford-AstraZeneca (UK) have been registered in the country so far.
According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), around 1,786 cases of coronavirus were reported while 43 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 13,324.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 595,239.
As many as 565,216 patients have recovered from the disease with 1,664 critical cases.
