During the session, the members of the House will vote to elect the new provincial chief executive.

Lahore: the crucial session of the Punjab Assembly to elect the new Chief Minister will begun shortly, which will be chaired by Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, GNN reported.
According to details, a tough competition is expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Hamza Shehbaz and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Pervaiz Elahi.
During the session, the members of the House will vote to elect the new provincial chief executive.
The session is being held after the Lahore High Court rejected the pleas of Speaker Pervaiz Elahi and restored the powers of Mazari to conduct the election today.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) holds a majority with 183 members in the 371-seat assembly. Hamza Shahbaz needs the support of 186 members to become the chief minister.
