Lahore: Special representative to the prime minister on religious harmony, Maulana Tahir Mehmood Asharfi has said that use of Covid-19 vaccine is permissible in Islam.

While giving a statement on getting coronavirus vaccine, Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that all religious scholars have consensus that everyone should get the jab.
“Fatwas have also been issued from the religious centers of Egypt, Jeddah and other countries that use of Covid-19 vaccine is allowed under Islamic laws,” he said.
Maulana further stated that vaccine saves people from getting the infection and precautions must be followed in all cases.
“As per fatwa, corona vaccine can even be administered during fasting. Islamic law commands one to avoid suffering and to save others. Mosques are not being closed and there are no such proposals but if medical experts still think it is necessary to keep a distance during prayers in Ramadan, it should be followed,” he said.
Tahir Ashrafi appealed to philanthropists to buy corona vaccine and distribute it among deserving people.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus, which is deadlier and contagious than the previous two waves.
On the other hand, the process of administering vaccine to people aged 60 and above is underway across the country.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 3,669 cases of coronavirus were reported while 20 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 13,863.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 630,471.
As many as 583,538 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,423 critical cases.
